Terms of Service

1The service

Schovis is free. There are no payments, subscriptions or paid features. Anyone may view Schovis pages without an account; creating your own page requires signing in with Google, and you must also follow Google’s Terms of Service when you do.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.

2Claim only your own profile

You may connect only the Google Scholar profile that belongs to you. Claiming someone else’s profile, or otherwise impersonating another person, is not allowed. When we learn of it, we remove the page and the account behind it.

If someone has created a Schovis page from your Google Scholar profile, email hello@schovis.com with a link to the page and to your Scholar profile, and we will look into it.

3Your account and content

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for the username, bio and photo you add. They must not infringe anyone’s rights or be unlawful, misleading or offensive. You keep ownership of what you upload; you allow us to store it and show it on your public page for as long as your account exists.

Your page is public and may be indexed by search engines. The Privacy Policy describes what we collect and how you can delete it.

4Data from Google Scholar

The figures, statistics and publication lists on Schovis pages are taken from public Google Scholar profiles once a day. Their accuracy depends on Google Scholar: if something is wrong there, it is wrong on Schovis until it is corrected on Google Scholar. Author-level indices that Schovis computes itself are derived from that same data.

Schovis is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google. “Google” and “Google Scholar” are trademarks of Google LLC.

5Acceptable use

When using Schovis, you must not:

• break the law or infringe the rights of others;
• impersonate anyone or claim a profile that is not yours (section 2);
• scrape, crawl or query the service at a volume that burdens it;
• probe, attack or try to gain unauthorized access to the service or its data;
• use Schovis to send spam or distribute malicious software.

6Availability

Schovis is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that it will always be available, free of errors, or that data will be current. We may change or discontinue features, or the service itself, at any time.

7Limitation of liability

Schovis is free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, use or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, Schovis.

This does not limit our liability for intent or gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, or any other liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.

8Termination

You can stop using Schovis at any time and delete your account in Settings. We may suspend or remove an account or page that breaks these terms, in particular sections 2 and 5, without prior notice. Sections 4, 6 and 7 continue to apply after your account ends.

9Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We publish every new version on this page and change the effective date above. We announce material changes on schovis.com at least 30 days before they take effect; if you do not agree, you can delete your account before then. If you keep using Schovis after that date, the updated terms apply to you.

10General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about Schovis.

Nothing in these terms takes away the rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of the country where you live, including your rights under the GDPR described in the Privacy Policy.
